The small medieval town of Châtillon sur Chalaronne, in the Ain department, is a town full of character with a rich heritage. Its 15th-century covered market in particular, its half-timbered facades and the remains of the ramparts of the old castle are well worth a visit. If you can, don’t miss the Saturday morning market. This traditional market is one of the finest in the region.
