A landmark of southern Burgundy, the Roche de Solutré rises like a sphynx from the Mâconnais vineyards. Its summit is easily reached by footpath. Allow around 1 hour for the round trip, with a 100-metre difference in altitude. From the top of the rock, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama that will reward your efforts. In particular, you can admire the neighbouring Roche de Vergisson. The Roche de Solutré was an important Paleolithicsettlement. Carved into the side of the rock, a prehistory museum is devoted to the excavations carried out since 1987.
