Fleurie is ideally situated for exploring the Beaujolais and M\u00e2connais regions, with a number of major tourist attractions within easy reach of the village. But there’s no need to take the car, as there’s plenty to see and do on the spot.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fleurie is a lively wine-growing village. You’ll find 4 restaurants here, including one Michelin-starred restaurant. So many ways to enjoy the gastronomy of this land of good food, where wine is best enjoyed with friends. To find out more about the wines of the Fleurie appellation, visit the Maison du Cru Fleurie. Every day, a different winemaker welcomes you to taste his or her cuv\u00e9e, as well as the cuv\u00e9e of the other 3 Fleurie AOC estates. On Saturday mornings, the streets of Fleurie come alive with the market. The stalls sell fruit and vegetables alongside Beaujolais specialities. In addition to the market, butchers, bakers and grocers are also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walks from Fleurie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From Fleurie, you can go for a walk or cycle ride. In addition to the sentier des Lys, which leads all the way to the Madonna (see below), there are 4 signposted circuits ranging from 4km to 25km that take you through vineyards and forests to discover some stunning views of the Beaujolais region. The easiest circuit (4km) is a moderate level and is suitable for all walkers. The other three routes, with gradients ranging from 255m to 300m, require some experience of walking. For mountain bikers, there are several routes starting from Fleurie, including a 19 km circuit between Fleurie and Ch\u00e9nas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lys trail between Fleurie and La Madone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dominating the Sa\u00f4ne plain from the top of its hill, the Madonna chapel is the symbol of Fleurie. It was built around 1880. Its origins remain unclear. Was it to combat a vine disease or out of fear of the invasion of Fleurie by the Prussians in 1875? The debate remains open. From Fleurie, the sentier des Lys will take you all the way to the Madonna. This hike will be punctuated by anecdotes and riddles about nature and vines for children. Once you reach the summit (425 metres), you’ll be treated to a superb panoramic view of the Cru Fleurie hillsides, the Sa\u00f4ne valley and, in the distance, the Alps and Mont Blanc. This 4-hour hike is easy enough for all the family. Allow around 1h30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
